"Biscotte Yarns DK PURE is a blend of 90% Superwash Merino Wool and 10% silk. It absolutely glows from within and inspired this design. The Caramel colorway reminds me of pine needles covering the forest floor on my hiking trails, and the variegated Nelly is the pond partially frozen over with ice. Its colors range from deep teal, representing the cold pond water, to shiny, opaque white like the thick ice.
Wintry Woods is the original design in my Friluftsliv Cowl Collection. Friluftsliv (pronounced free-loofts-liv) is a Scandinavian term that translates to "open air living." My designs are often inspired by natural beauty throughout the northeast United States. Embracing the concept that there is (almost) no bad weather, only inadequate clothing choices, I designed these cowls to wear on – and brighten – my outdoor hikes during the seasons we experience from late fall through spring."- Erika

In addition to the knitting kit, you need the following materials to knit your Wintry Woods cowl pattern:
NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
- US6, 22” (4.0 mm, 56 cm) , with optional US5 16” (3.75 mm, 40 cm) circular, or whatever needle size meets gauge, paired with one needle size down 16” (40 cm) for top ribbing.

- Try-on cord, extra needle or scrap yarn to hold stitches.
